Staying on Bali means, meeting with another culture. In general it makes people to become aware of some of the unpleasant habits of the West. To become aware of another culture is an adventure and takes more time then what people would expect. It is anyhow the subject of conversation when you meet other expats. You will discover that behind each word a totally other perception is hidden. The word rain for example gives a nasty unpleasant feeling in Holland whereas it is experienced positively by the Balinese people. In Bali it means to freshen up, to clean. Many Dutch people think that the raining season in Bali is a period which must be avoided and the Balinese are on the look out for this time. You will see that handling these cultural differences will cause no considerable problems in daily life but can work surprisingly refreshing.
